I’m Steph, 34 year old mum of two from Bath Somerset. I now live in Bristol with my two children and husband, Shaun.
I suffered perinatal mental illness during and following pregnancy with both of my children. Unfortunately, I also have several chronic illnesses, including fibromyalgia, migraine and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. And you’ll find I’m always openly (or overtly!) sharing what life is like both living and parenting with ill health.
Divamum was born from a need to expel the thoughts that were taking up space in my head during my first pregnancy in 2016. Since then, I’ve written regularly for publications such as The Mighty and FMAUK and more recently The Bristol Cable. I’m also a keen campaigner for women’s health and support charities, such as IAPMD. I’ve appeared on and hosted several podcasts too, but I’ve been known to get a bit sweary so they don’t always invite me back!
I’ve won several awards for blog posts and was recently nominated for two categories in the 2022 Mental Health Blogger Awards.
Divamum consists of personal essays written by me, sharing my experience of parenting with chronic and mental illness. I am an always candid, (often sweary) mental health and disability blogger. I like to think this blog is honest and raw. Therefore it contains sensitive content around mental illness, parenting, trauma and disability, that may be triggering for some readers. In my sparsely available spare time I sometimes write fiction, and my dream is to one day making writing my full time job.
